Cats with mild or moderate heart disease can eat normal diets.
Cats with more advanced heart disease will require diets with reduced salt combined with the right protein and energy requirements. Omega 3 fatty acids are also helpful for many patients to reduce the loss of muscle (cardiac cachexia) that comes with advanced heart disease.
