The most common cardiac disease in cats is Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). This occurs in approximately 10-15% of the feline population. Fortunately, not all cats with HCM progress to develop heart failure.

Cats and humans are prone to strokes/blood clots if they have heart disease. With an early diagnosis, the same drugs used to prevent strokes in humans can be used effectively and safely in cats.
